have a laugh

I woke up at 5:45 and immediately checked the school closings. Sadly my school's name did not make the list. I checked a 2nd time and the school was still not listed; I wasn't surprised. I then started out on my hour long journey to New Era, listening to Harry Potter along the way. I pulled into the very vacant lot thinking... (in a British accent because of all of the HP) "This cannot be!" I checked the door... Locked! Stepped back into my car and checked the closings for the 3rd time and there it was, like magic before my eyes... "NCS closed!" Happy Snow Day indeed!

wrinkles

the skin on my hands remind me of an elephant's skin and for some reason i don't mind.

yay

i'm the new art teacher for two christian K-8th grade schools... one in new era, michigan and one in hart, michigan. i wanted to document this day... i'm so grateful. i'm a little nervous about driving on the snowy days, but i have to choose not to live in fear and to wake up earlier on those days. i will also have to start using my library card more often to check out books on CD... (i don't mind that at all).

smooching post number 2

the best part about this is how he squeezes her waist and picks her up off of the ground, i love that! i am also aware of the hopeless romantic cheesiness that i have brought to my blog once again...

written words, oh how you move me...

‎"and without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, harry kissed her.
after several long moments - or it might have been half an hour - or possibly several sunlight days - they broke apart. the room had gone very quiet. then several people wolf-whistled and there was an outbreak of nervous giggling. harry looked over the top of ginny's head to see dean thomas holding a shattered glass in his hand, and romilda vane looking as though she might throw something. hermione was beaming, but harry's eyes sought ron. at last he found him, still clutching the cup and wearing an expression appropriate to having been clubbed over the head. for a fraction of a second they looked at each other, ron gave a tiny jerk of the head that harry understood to me, well - if you must."

- j.k rowling, harry potter, the half-blood prince

this passage trumps any kissing scene in any romantic comedy ever made. i re-read it multiple times... each time with a bigger smile on my face than the i had one before. i fell in love with the words immediately and was taken to the gryffindor common room in mind instantly... beaming with the rest of the gang at the exciting moment that we had all just witnessed.

Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
   “For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

BOOM. i LOVE that.

thankfulness

i'm filled up with an overwhelming sense of happiness today, i can't explain it, but i am definitely thankful for it.

things that are contributing to my happiness:
-my warm cup of coffee
-the smell of my eucalyptus spearmint candle
-getting my laundry done & fresh-out-of-the-dryer sheets
-finishing my journal & being able to buy a new one (re-reading old journal entries & seeing where i've grown & how god has answered prayers)
-good music playing on the 'mumford & sons' pandora station
-catching up with my dear friend, ms. ashley verville
